Abstract

BERNARDES, Jade Wagner  and  MARIN, Angela Helena. Intervention with social educators in the context of shelters: report of experience. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp. 117-130. ISSN 1677-2970.

The aim of this report is to present an intervention performed with social educators from a shelter located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre / RS, whose proposal was to reflect about the work with sheltered children. Considering the assumption of the ecological insertion, six fortnightly meetings were held, lasting 60-90 minutes, attending about eight to 12 educators. The data were registered per field diaries. It was found that the interaction of the group promoted reflections about the role of the social educator on shelters, conceptions about work and the sheltered child. The presence of stigmas about sheltering and sheltered child permeated the discourse of the participants, as well as the shortage of assistance and investment in permanent/continuing education they face, which highlights the relevance of interventions in this context.

Keywords : Shelter; Social educator; Institutionalized child.
