Abstract

JUSTINO, Yara Alves Costa  and  NASCIMENTO, Célia Regina Rangel. Father and adolescent children relationship in families that experienced domestic violence between parents. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.1, pp. 92-109. ISSN 1677-2970.

It was investigated in the context of families that experienced marital violence, how adolescents evaluated their relationship with their father. Eleven adolescents of 12 to 16 years old, of both sexes, were interviewed. The results were analyzed and organized using the Content Analysis Method. Most of the adolescents considered their father distant and little available. Some participants reported that their father had aggressive behavior and abusive use of alcoholic beverages, impacting their relationship. The positive aspects of the relationship reported were material support, moments of care and expression of affection. The results reinforce the importance of studies about the impact of conjugal violence on parenting and the need to expand the support network for children as well.
