ABSTRACT This study aimed to understand the perceptions and feelings of mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and to identify which are the internal resources and social supports they use. It is descriptive and exploratory research with a qualitative approach supported by semi-structured interviews mediated by an image and a triggering question. The survey was conducted with nine mothers, who are primary caregivers for their children and who attend a non-governmental organization (NGO). It was concluded that most are overload with the daily care of their children. However, they have managed to minimize the impact of the diagnosis developing feelings of positive transformation, as a mother and woman, with the support of the NGO.
