Resumen

ALVES, Cecília Pescatore. Hunger: from impoverishment to the aesthetic imperative. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2005, vol.3, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 2175-3547.

The text presents the reality of wretched poverty as a consequence of domestic and foreign causes, and as a consequence of globalization. It reports on the loss of social rights acquired in the past as a consequence of the economy’s performance and as a consequence of automation by large companies. Economic and social instability generate psychological consequences such that, out of the need for acceptance and prestige, there is submission to subjugating impositions. The study concludes that the continuance an impoverished condition and of aesthetic imperatives related to the body are in reality policies for establishing a subjugated, "colonized" identity. This makes social autonomy impossible because of the hedgemonic domination.

Palabras clave : Culture; Globalization; Impoverished.
