Abstract

The objective of the study was investigated the incidence of depression among doctors who conduct their clinical activities in outpatient clinics in the state of São Paulo. The study shared in the research of 50 doctors from differents specialties: cardiologists, gynecologists, pediatricians, general practioner and orthopedists. They used the Sociodemographic Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory for the collection of data. With the instruments´ application it was possible to verify that most of the participants presented a minimum degree of depression (86%). However, the male gender presented a light depression score of (8%), while the score for the female gender was (2%). The results obstained and presented in frequency from apparently diverge from the literature researched regarding the proportionality of the depression incidence between genders.
