This article has been developed incorporating the experience of the Hematology Service of the Central Institute of the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo; it has been arranged in the form of bibliography research, and analyzes research papers, from scientific data bases, on psychological treatment in the field of onco-hematology and oncology. The selection of research papers is divided into categories which flavor the article with a descriptive characteristic. Afterwards, based on the data obtained, and on the reading and understanding of these authors, the article becomes reflective because it discusses what has been published in the papers and practiced in this area. This research has been able to offer greater understanding on the subject and show the achievements and limitations of those practices. It also reflects on ways to accommodate the demands of these patients; understanding that this is a way to contribute to better treatment, projects and questioning within the field of onco-hematology
