Abstract

Hypertensive syndromes associated to pregnancy has a worldwide high incidence and are the highest cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Besides, they are the third major cause of maternal mortality. The incidence of depression is growing and nowadays it is the lead cause of incapacity in the world. The purpose of this study is to evaluate depressive syndromes and the performance of IDS-C to detect depression in hypertensive pregnant women comparing with the evaluation of PRIME-MD. Twenty hypertensive women that was in the Obstetric Clinic Division of the HCFMUSP, took part of this study. The results showed that according to PRIME-MD, the incidence of depression was 10%. According to IDS-C, 15% of the patients were symptomatically depressive which show us the need of  further studies and improve the depression diagnosis in high risk pregnant women that makes a more adequated  therapeutic measure possible
