The present study consists of a systematic review in order to investigate the emotional manifestations in patients who experienced pre and post cardiac surgery, we reviewed 120 articles, searches on electronic databases MEDLINE and LILACS, national and international undertaken between the years from 1985 to 2010. Among the items found were 13 abstracts were selected according to the selected predictors. The total sample were 866 patients who underwent cardiac surgery and who showed emotional manifestations of anxiety, depression, fear and post-traumatic stress disorder.
