ROCHA, Glauco Heirison dos Santos et al. Beliefs related to the feminine nature forward pregnancy and maternal-fetal bonding. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.2, pp. 79-94. ISSN 2175-3547.

Introduction: Over the centuries, countless changes have occurred in our society and the social roles that once seemed well defined corresponding to the gender, won fluid characteristics knocking some paradigms and stereotypes against the existence of a supposed nature of the woman destined to motherhood. Objective: This study aimed to identify what were the existing beliefs during pregnancy related to the feminine nature forward to motherhood and maternal-fetal bonding. Method: This was an exploratory descriptive study developed in a public university hospital in Brazil, São Paulo, where 50 semi-structured interviews were conducted with high-risk pregnancies. Results: The discourse of these women seemed to point to the possibility of choice to respond or not to the paradigm imposed by Nature. However, the denial of that legacy - the breakup with his apparent destiny - it seems to promote the belief that this woman would be handed to misfortune. Responding positively to the claim that Nature loaded social paradigms, however, these women said, mostly believe in direct communication and bilateral cooperation among them and their unborn children. Conclusion : To the woman was left, beyond belief the key to promoting happiness or unhappiness - being a mother - own and others, the belief in the ability to develop a direct bond to this possible source of happiness - her baby - able to change their behavior during pregnancy.
