Abstract

YAMAURA, Luciana Parisi Martins  and  VERONEZ, Fulvia de Souza. Communication on death for children: intervention strategies. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.1, pp. 78-93. ISSN 2175-3547.

Culturally communication of death has been represented in different ways, which seems to lead to consequences in the resource organization to deal with the losses, especially by children. This research aimed to gather data about the communication of death for children and identify strategies used and recommended. Therefore, a systematic review with detailed analysis of scientific publications dealing with the matter was held. In general, we recommend the use of a frank and clear dialogue, through real and honest information, promoting the integration and construction of the concept of death as something natural, since early childhood, with a open communicator for clarification of doubts and sensitive listening, that favors the expression of diverse feelings that affect a child in this situation. This interaction should be covered with some strategies and basic care, respecting the cognitive and emotional capabilities of the child.
