Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory and chronic skin disease, with a higher prevalence in childhood and can significantly affect the individual in several settings. In the psychic sphere there may be a decrease in self-esteem, anxious symptoms and even depression. This study aimed to analyze the drawing as a symbolic resource in an 11 - year - old patient with diagnosis of AD in psychological counseling at a reference center in the treatment of immunological diseases. The diagnostic hypothesis was a negative maternal complex associated with an anxious personality. Based on the results, it was possible to verify the drawing as an important resource in the understanding the personal complex of the patient, as well as symbolic expression of the anxieties, fears, and re-signifying them. It was also verified the emergence of healthy psychics resources, being configured as an important tool in the psychological treatment. In this way, the drawing proved to be a valuable tool in accessing the patient's psyche, and understanding the disease and its repercussions.
