Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the contributions of the therapeutic group of psychological support for the social development of children in services of visual habilitation / rehabilitation. Five male children with bilateral visual impairment, aged between two and three years old were included in this study. Children participated in the group through recreational intervention activities for two months. It was administered the Infant Visual Function Questionnaire for guardians, applied in two moments, before and after two months of groups. The therapeutic group showed to be an effective intervention for the social development and quality of life of these children, with an improvement of pro-social behaviors and vicarious learning, presenting an important impact on family, treatment and personality.
