Abstract

Forms of evaluation of human memory used in clinical contexts (tests for immediate memory, orientation, retention of new acquisitions etc.) are presented and their validity and reliability are discussed using the Mini Mental State Examination as an example. The processes by which memory is modulated by affective states is examined, as well as the main alterations of memory - global amnesia syndrome, parcial syndromes, amnesia in delirium and in dementia and funcional amnesia.
