The purpose of this study is to adapt to Portuguese Folkman and Lazarus' questionnaire on the ways of coping with stressful life events. A translation of this questionnaire to Portuguese was first examined by four judges, who considered it adequate in terms of interpretation. The reliability of the Portuguese form was estimated by test-retest and split-half methods. The validity was basically evaluated by the factor analysis method. The results showed correspondence between the original form of the questionnaire and its translation .
