SOUZA, Luiz Eduardo da Silva e and DELGADO, Victor Tinoco. Sidartas journey and the problem of identity a transdisciplinary study of Hermann Hesses novel. Psicol. USP [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.2, pp. 213-234. ISSN 1678-5177.
This paper aims to discuss the problem of personal identity based on Hermann Hesses novel Sidarta. The novels main life-story personage is analized and contextualized in the light of Jungs psychology and Mircea Eliade and Joseph Campbells historical ethnologic perspectives. In a second time, the study contemplates also the sociological conception of the self-identity on modernity developed by Anthony Giddens. In the last instance, this paper seeks to circumscribe the idea of self-identity betting on the possibility of a transdisciplinary approach.
