This article aims at describing the development of Vocational Guidance in Brazil, from its origins up to now. First, it makes a brief historical review of the Vocational Guidance development in the international setting. Then it describes the most relevant historical facts for the appearance and growth of Vocational Guidance in our country, the relationship between the Brazilian Vocational Guidance and Psychology and Educational Guidance, the main theoretical models on professional choice used and developed in our milieu, and the adaptation and creation of instruments to be used in the process or Vocational Guidance. Finally, it makes an overview of the Brazilian Vocational Guidance nowadays.
