Abstract

RIBEIRO, Marcelo Afonso. Claims in Vocational Guidance: an exploratory study in public schools. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2003, vol.4, n.1-2, pp. 141-151. ISSN 1984-7270.

The article presents a research report aiming at identifying new claims in the vocational guidance field to support the development of new models of actuating, through a public high school students’ sample, from the suburban east side of São Paulo city. The students’ sample was characterized by their family professional history (which determinates their future), and their claim in the work world (expectations and future wishes), using for the data collection questionnaires, some writing about the future, and vocational guidance groups. The main findings have pointed out that the participants expect some guidance related to their immediate insertion in the work market and some help in the planning of their professional life project, signaling the need of new paradigms in the professional guidance field, as opposed to the traditional attendance model offered to higher education candidates.
