Abstract

MOURA, Cynthia Borges de et al. Evaluation of a behavioral professional guidance program for adolescents. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2005, vol.6, n.1, pp. 25-40. ISSN 1984-7270.

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the effectiveness of a Professional Guidance Program according to what Behavior Analysis states about behavioral changes that indicate progress in the stages of career choice. The program consisted of structured sessions, focused on the development of self-knowledge and knowing about different occupations. The repertory of adolescents that started and finished the program was evaluated as well as the program´s components. The results showed that the program helped to decrease the number of initial options, to enhance choice maturity and decision making skills. We concluded that the program is effective to help adolescents improve their professional choice. The behavioral approach used in the implementation of a Professional Guidance Program seems promising to consolidate a new way of acting and understanding the issues involved.
