Abstract

ALMEIDA, Fabiana Hilário de. Evaluation of a professional guidance service: a view by former clients. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.2, pp. 81-102. ISSN 1984-7270.

Considering the importance of evaluation of the process and results of psychological interventions, this study aimed at evaluating the Vocational Guidance Service done by a public university, during seven years. Out of a total of 466 former clients, who concluded attendance, 104 answered a questionnaire sent by post. That instrument, consisting of closed and open questions, evaluates services according to three dimensions: inputs, processes and outputs, according to the French, Hiebert and Bezanzon model. The answers to the closed questions were treated by means of descriptive statistics and the answers to the open questions were analyzed according to Bardin and also as based on the integrated references (clinical-operative and developmental). Most former clients evaluated the service positively, what showed that they understood professional guidance as a strategy that favors an individual’s self-knowledge and development to accomplish their vocational choices.
