This work summarizes the investigation: “Counseling in schools of high psychosocial vulnerability”, carried out from 2002-2006 in the district of La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its purpose was to check the intervention level, methodologies and practices of Counseling in those schools. The students finished high school, but were not able to accomplish higher education neither enter the qualified job market. The work was carried out in institutions with populations of high psychosocial vulnerability, and applied theoretical and methodological procedures to assure the validity and the accountability of its results. Through this investigation we could estimate the educational-social situation, Counseling deficits as well as the functioning of the different sectors that compose the educational community: students, parents, educational, directive and professional staff, and also its resources.
