The relation between friendship and career choice has been scarcely investigated in career counseling. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of friends in chosing a career and the implications of the career choice in their relationship. Participants were 96 students from a private high school. Results from the questionnaires showed that: 93% of the girls and 80% of the boys talked to their friends about their future career; 30,2% of the girls and 33,3% of the boys noticed their friends’ influence on their career choice; 65,1% of the girls and 82,2% of the boys didn’t observe any consequence of their career choice for their relationship; and, 48,8% of the girls and 55,5% of the boys considered themselves as the most important person for their decision about their future career.
