Abstract

TEIXEIRA, Marco Antônio Pereira; SILVA, Bárbara Maria Barbosa  and  BARDAGI, Marúcia Patta. Scientific literature on carrer counseling: an analysis about the Brazilian Journal of Vocational Guidance. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2007, vol.8, n.2, pp. 25-40. ISSN 1984-7270.

The evaluation of scientific literature in different areas helps to monitor the evolution of research and theoretical discussions, being of high interest to researchers and professionals. The purpose of this study was to analyze the articles published by the Brazilian Journal of Vocational Guidance, the only Brazilian scientific journal in the area of career counseling. Eleven volumes, published between 1997 and 2006 were analyzed, comprising a total of 85 articles. Main results showed that the proportion of empirical studies have been growing along the years, but collaboration between researchers and universities is still small. Besides that, there has been a great dispersion of themes among the articles, wich suggests that the career counseling field still needs to focus on larger areas of interest in Brazil.
