Abstract

LEMOS, Caioá Geraiges de. Drawings featuring professionals at work and story telling: development and psychodynamic characteristics. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2007, vol.8, n.2, pp. 41-55. ISSN 1984-7270.

This article presents a new version of the Stories and Drawing Procedure, the Drawing Professionals at work and story telling procedure, as well the main psychodynamic characteristics that emerge along the sequence of requests. This tool was developed to investigate psychological aspects of career choice by teenagers in vocational guidance. In this thematic variation of the Procedure, the teenagers were requested to draw and tell stories of professionals in four different situations: (1) doing something; (2) a successful professional doing something; (3) a professional going through a crisis, doing something and (4) you doing something in your future career. The sample consisted of forty male and female students, from the 12th grade, from public and private schools in São Paulo-Brazil. The results showed that the DP-S triggers career related issues: career ambition (first request), the ego ideal (second request), the fear losing of this ideal (third request), and, finally, in the fourth request, the possibility of elaboration of the questions previously proposed as well as the self-image projection as a future professional.

Keywords : Teenagers; Vocational guidance; Psychological assessment; Professional’s drawings with stories.
