Abstract

JARDIM-MARAN, Maria Luisa Casillo. Normative patterns for adolescents’ responses to the BBT-BR: checking the updating of available norms. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.1, pp. 61-74. ISSN 1984-7270.

One of the objectives of Vocational Guidance is to help individuals in doubt about career choice. This objective can be achieved by means of the use of psychological assessment techniques, as a relevant strategy to optimize psychologists’ work. The Job Photos Test (Berufsbilder Test-Br) stands out as an adequate technique to assess job-related motivations and interests for the Brazilian socio-cultural reality. The present work examined the norms proposed for adolescents’ responses to the BBT-Br, comparing performance patterns in two different periods. In this study, sixty 16-19-year-old senior high school students of both genders, who were attending either private or public schools were assessed. Analysis of the results showed that the data related to productivity and interest structures were similar to those found for the original normalization process. Such results allow for the conclusion that the BBT-Br’s normative references for adolescents are adequate.
