Change is the most constant event in the world and Educational and Career Guidance could not be the exception. For some time now, professionals from that area have focused their interest on the redefinition of theory and re-conceptualization of practice. This study points out the need for professionals from that area to develop more and more as specialists in human development, advancing their knowledge in the area of Education, Psychology and Sociology, so that they acquire competencies to attend the demands from society efficaciously and efficiently. In this sense, the International Association for the Educational and Vocational Counseling has begun a work that is worthwhile to consider.
