FARIA, Liliana da Costa  e  SAAVEDRA, Luísa Maria. Career exploration and decision in an academic transition: individual differences. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.2, pp. 17-30. ISSN 1984-7270.

The study of career exploration and indecision in moments of academic transition, contributes to the design of career interventions. In this study, we analyze gender differences, based on the assessment of 178 ninth-grade students (120 girls, 58 boys), with an average age of 14 years, attending schools in the northwest of Portugal. The results showed differences between boys and girls, with girls doing worse than boys in relation to two beliefs about exploration: notions about job market and relative importance attributed to career goals. Practical implications of the results for career intervention design are discussed.

Palavras-chave : Career exploration; Career indecision; Individual differences.
