Abstract

AMBIEL, Rodolfo Augusto Matteo. A case study in vocational guidance: The role of psychological assessment and vocational information. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.1, pp. 133-143. ISSN 1984-7270.

This article aimed at describing a process of vocational guidance, as based on the results of psychological assessment and professional information. The client was a 16 - years-old high school student in a Brazilian public school. Four test were applied: Vocational Counseling Scale (Escala de Aconselhamento Profissional), Occupational Photo Test (Teste de Fotos de Profissões / Berufisbilder BBT), Reasoning Tests Battery (Bateria de Provas de Raciocínio) and Personality Factorial Inventory (Inventário Fatorial de Personalidade). Supply of and search for vocational information were also done. During the process, the client consolidated his choice of a course in which he was already interested, based on the ideas generated by the assessment results and information activities. An interview was conducted 15 months after the process had been concluded, when he had already enrolled in the course chosen, during which the stability of his choice was evaluated.
