Abstract

BORGES, Regina Célia P.  and  COUTINHO, Maria Chalfin. Adolescents' paths: giving meaning to life projects from the first job experience. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.2, pp. 189-200. ISSN 1984-7270.

This qualitative research was done with the aim of understanding the meanings of labor for the young in their first job experience. The centrality of labor category is assumed as seen in the historic-dialectic materialism and social-historic concept of youth/adolescence. The main technique for data collection used was the interview, and photography was used complementary. From a clipping of the data analytical considerations were made about three nuclei: (a) Experience, Formal Job Contract and Consumption, (b) Everyday life, and (c) Projects. The meanings of labor in their first job experience express a centrality, even though they are strongly influenced by the capitalist system.

Keywords : labor; adolescents; job; life project.
