Abstract

CARVALHO, Tatiana Oliveira de  and  MARINHO-ARAUJO, Claisy Maria. School psychology and career guidance: strengthening the convergence. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.2, pp. 219-228. ISSN 1984-7270.

This paper supports the idea that Career Guidance is a relevant field in School Psychology. It conceives the educational institution - preferably the school - as a privileged space in which that role must be played through the use of both Psychology and Education. The paper briefly describes the theoretical-methodological advancements that occurred in the last decades in both School Psychology and Career Guidance. Thus, it proposes the possibility of convergence of the two areas to constitute a perspective of a course of action aiming at the promotion of career development and the construction of citizenship, based on career education principles.

Keywords : school psychology; career guidance; career education.
