Presently terms such as vocational guidance, educational guidance, occupational guidance and career counseling coexist with others which started to be part of the organizational literature and daily routine, such as: mentoring, coaching, counseling, among others. Those can be found in publications, including the psychological, the pedagogical and the business areas. Due to the diversity in the products and services existing in the market, very often, those intervention strategies are used in organizational contexts regardless of the objectives aimed, and,their applicability, contenting, sometimes, to use the up-to-date business jargon. This essay aims to discuss some similarities and particularities in those strategies, comparing them, hoping to contribute for a better understanding of the current practices by professionals and organizations.
