MUNHOZ, Izildinha Maria Silva  and  MELO-SILVA, Lucy Leal. Career Education: concepts, development and possibilities of the field in the Brazilian context. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.1, pp. 37-48. ISSN 1984-7270.

Career Education is a type of career guidance developed systematically in the education context in many countries. This article aimed to contribute to the understanding of this type of intervention providing a review of the literature trying to understand the context of the development, concepts, models of the field, and also the role played by teachers and psychologists in interventions. The systematization of knowledge about Career Education may facilitate discussions that may lead to intervention programs in the Brazilian context, by means of infusive, additive and mixed curricular strategies. Such programs may help young people to acquire the key competences for a positive career development and to democratize access to vocational guidance, currently restricted to a few.

Keywords : career education; vocational guidance; curriculum infusion; teachers.
