Abstract

LAMAS, Karen Cristina Alves  and  BARBOSA, Altemir José Gonçalves. Occupational choice and interests of talented people: scientometric analysis. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.2, pp. 185-196. ISSN 1984-7270.

Aiming to analyze the scientific production of the last decade (2000 - 2009) on occupational choice and interests of people with giftedness and talent, this paper has recovered PsycNET and ERIC database indexed papers using the terms gifted and career choice or gifted and vocational interests. Empirical researches which have only adopted talented people samples mainly identified in the intellectual domain were predominant among the 28 articles retrieved. Cognitions, gender differences and social influences were the publications' main themes. Thus, it is clear that the analyzed scientific production, though prioritizing empirical evidence gathering, is limited and emphasizes only part of the occupational variables associated with the development of people with giftedness and talent.

Keywords : gifted; professional development; scientific research; occupational aspirations.
