SANTOS, Acácia Angeli Aparecida dos; MOGNON, Jocemara Ferreira  e  JOLY, Maria Cristina Rodrigues Azevedo. Self-efficacy beliefs in the transition to work with engineering undergraduates. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.2, pp. 197-204. ISSN 1984-7270.

The aim of this study was to examine the beliefs of self-efficacy in the transition to work, identifying possible differences in gender, age and course. The subjects in the study were 100 senior college undergraduates of both sexes (86% male and 14% female), age range from 21-47 years (M = 26.01, SD = 4.72), from four different engineering courses: civil, electrical, mechanical and computational, from a private university in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The instrument applied collectively was the Escala de Autoeficácia na Transição para o Trabalho "Self-Efficacy Scale in Transition to Work" (SESTW-Br). Results indicated no significant differences to exist in relation to sex and age; however, differences were found among the courses in respect to self-efficacy when looking for a job. It is suggested that further studies are done with more heterogeneous samples so that other variables can be explored.

Palavras-chave : self-efficacy; undergraduates; transition to work.
