SILVA, Renata Danielle Moreira  y  TRINDADE, Zeidi Araujo. Teenage apprentices: factors that influenced their choice for a career apprenticeship program and changes in their perception of themselves. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp. 73-86. ISSN 1984-7270.

This study aimed to identify the factors that led adolescents to sign up for the Career Apprenticeship Program (CAP) as well as the changes in their perception of themselves after they had started the program. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 apprentice teenagers (11 male and 11 female) aged between 15 and 17, from a CAP in Grande Vitória/ES. Through content analysis, categories emerging from the interviews were highlighted, thus serving as a basis for the discussion. Positive changes reported by the participants include career development, the acquisition of social skills and self-containment. The results point to the need for studies focusing on the possible subjective and material resourses that the CAP can provide teenagers in the long run.

Palabras clave : adolescence; labor; career education; social programs.
