Abstract

DUARTE, Maria Eduarda. The life of counseling in 21st century life: Constraints and challenges. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.2, pp. 155-164. ISSN 1984-7270.

This work proposes a reflection on the life of guidance in the 21st century: realistic, responsible, restrained and committed, and systemic. It is realistic because it articulates the theoretical possibilities with real needs. It is responsible and restrained because it defines priorities based on the needs of personal development and therefore social justice. It is committed because it conveys the message that not everything is solved in an economistic perspective, but by managing - theoretically, socially and politically, and on the basis of learning - the means that are available. And it is systemic, since issues of interest are treated in a global and interdependent perspective. The aim is thus to contribute to the reflection and also to create conditions for intervention in the field of counseling.

Keywords : counseling; guidance; career.
