Abstract

RIBEIRO, Marcelo Afonso. Systematization of the main narratives produced about career in literature. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.2, pp. 177-189. ISSN 1984-7270.

This article aimed to bring up the main academic narratives which have proposed some kind of organization of the career construction process and have articulated these narratives in a general systematization. The results allowed organizing the possible alternatives of the career construction process into four general discourses. Two of them have been determined by traditional models of career construction: the organizational model (discourse of nostalgia) and the professional model (discourse of enclosure). The other two discourses have been defined by a flexible model of the current social network relations (discourse of possibility) and the other out of the continuum of career construction (discourse of instrumentality). The conclusion is that the heterogeneity and complexity of the contemporary world of work demand theoretical concepts capable of capturing this complexity and, at the same time, help in the construction of analytical categories of the psychosocial phenomena associated to work.

Keywords : work; identity; discourse; social constructionism; career counseling.
