Abstract

SILVA, Bruna Rodrigues da; OLIVEIRA, Marina Cardoso de  and  MELO-SILVA, Lucy Leal. Career counseling self-efficacy: A study among Brazilian career counselors. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.1, pp. 5-13. ISSN 1679-3390.

This study aimed to analyze career counseling self-efficacy and test the hypothesis that there are differences in career counseling self-efficacy in relation to professional experience. A Brazilian form of Career Counseling Self-Efficacy Scale (CCSES) was applied in a sample of 107 Brazilian career counselors. The results showed that career counselors felt confident in their skills in career counseling, although they felt less confident in their multicultural counseling skills when compared with the other scale dimensions. Career counseling self-efficacy was significantly related to years of professional experience, confirming theoretical assumptions associated with self-efficacy and domain experience. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Keywords : career guidance; self-efficacy; career counseling; career counselor.
