Abstract

This study aims to analyze the vocational exploration competences in adult inmates according to sociodemographic variables. The participants of this study were 58 inmates of prison in Portugal. The results indicated that the inmates were in a situation favorable to the vocational exploration. Statistical significant differences were found in Stress according to the civil status and in Results Certainty and Professional Environment Exploration according to the academic degree. It is concluded that the major challenge for counseling professionals is to facilitate the well-being of inmates, helping them to understand the reality and face the challenges of living and working in society after the incarceration.
