Abstract

MONTEIRO, André M.  and  GONCALVES, Carlos M.. Significados da educação superior: versão portuguesa do Meaning Of Education (MOE) QuestionnaireMeanings of higher education: portuguese version of the Meaning Of Education (MOE) questionnaire. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp. 71-82. ISSN 1679-3390.

The meanings ascribed by students to higher education are important since they enable universities to respond to their interests and the new demands of the labor market. The literature review conducted highlighted that there is a lack of studies and instruments in Portuguese that can serve to evaluate the meanings attributed to higher education. This study describes the process by which the Meaning of Education questionnaire was adapted and validated based on data gathered from 712 Portuguese higher education students, using an online platform. Results from exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis suggest that the ten dimensions model developed by the authors based on the original instrument is applicable to the Portuguese population. Internal consistency of dimensions ranged between 0.84 and 0.94.

Keywords : higher education; work; students; factor analysis.
