Abstract

DANTAS, Marilda Aparecida  and  AZZI, Roberta Gurgel. Brazilian adaptation of the career decision making self-efficacy scale. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp. 149-160. ISSN 1679-3390.

This study aimed to adapt and identify validity evidences for the Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale in the Brazilian context. The study included 198 high school students from two public schools in the São Paulo State. In addition to the semantic analysis process, the results through exploratory factor analysis indicated the organization of items into three factors named 1. Career development and workplace inclusion, 2. Academic and professional choice and 3. Revaluation of career planning. The scale can be useful in planning interventions based on social cognitive career theory. It is recommended to conduct further researches to extend the investigation to other constructs of the theory as goals and expectations of results, considering the socialcultural aspects of the population involved.

Keywords : self-efficacy; career choice; high school.
