Abstract

BRITO, Fernanda de Souza  and  MAGALHAES, Mauro de Oliveira. Occupational environments evaluation: construction of the Inventory of Occupational Classification. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp. 93-104. ISSN 1679-3390.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2017v18n1p93.

This research began the construction of the Occupational Classification Inventory (OCI) for evaluation of occupational environments according to J. Holland model. It is observed the scarcity of measures with this objective, necessary in research on congruence person-environment. A sample of 842 workers responded to the OCI and measures of interests and job satisfaction. The exploratory factorial analysis revealed the six factors corresponding to the RIASEC typology. Scales presented satisfactory internal consistency indexes. The C-type congruence index showed significant correlation with job satisfaction, corroborating theoretical expectations. It is concluded that the OCI is a promising instrument for use in research and professional practice in career guidance and management.
