Abstract

FERNANDES, Helenita de Araujo  and  MOURAO, Luciana. Processes of professional development: the proposition of a model for different careers. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp. 71-83. ISSN 1984-7270.

Learning at work and professional development often depend on career characteristics in which the person is inserted. The aim of this study was to propose a model of professional development processes for different occupational categories. To this end, 9 focus groups were held with lawyers, businessmen, engineers, doctors and psychologists (21 women and 16 men). The open script with stimulus questions for discussion derived from theoretical models on the subject. There was audio recording (13h30m) and verbatim transcription of the testimonies. We opted for the categorical content analysis, from which emerged 5 categories and 29 subcategories. It concludes with the presentation of a model of professional development processes, which is supported by theoretical models of individual learning at work.

Keywords : Learning at work; Career; Professional development.
