A total of 74 professional counselors participated, of which 55.4% were from the southeast region, 93.2% were trained in Psychology and had an average time of 10.1 years, that responded to the Competency Questionnaire of the Professional Practitioners. The results indicated a variety of instruments, techniques and theoretical references used, as well as a greater number of theoretical and practical skills for practitioners who participated in scientific events, with more experience time and more linked to the research context. The importance of investments in the training of the professional advisor is reaffirmed.
