Abstract

MELO, Mariana Ramos de; SILVA, Priscilla de Oliveira Martins da  and  ANDRADE, Alexsandro Luiz De. Career Barriers Perception Inventory: Study with University Students. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.1, pp. 67-80. ISSN 1984-7270.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2020v21n107.

This research aimed to present evidence of validity and precision for modified and adapted version of the Career Barriers Perception Inventory (IPBC) in a sample of undergraduates. The instrument that was adapted for Brazil in this study has four dimensions: Lack of Support, Sexual Discrimination, Ethnic Discrimination, and Opportunity Restriction. The sample included 358 concluding students of higher education, which 57,8% (N = 207) of these were female, and mean age of 26,94 years (SD = 6,03). The confirmatory factor analyzes indicated satisfactory fit and adequate reliability indexes for a reduced version of the IPBC, retaining 16 items of the four dimensions studied. Limitations of this research are discussed, and new possibilities for future studies are suggested.

Keywords : career development; discrimination; vocational orientation; higher education.
