Abstract

ANTUNES, Marcos Henrique  and  MORE, Carmen Leontina Ojeda Ocampo. Reverberations of retirement in the relational dynamics within significant social networks of retired people. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.1, pp. 95-106. ISSN 1984-7270.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2020v21n109.

This study aimed at analyzing the reverberations of retirement in the relational dynamics of significant social networks. Twelve retired participants aged between 52 and 66 years old agreed to join the study. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews complemented by researcher field journals. Data organization and analysis were based on the Grounded Theory, aided by the software Atlas.ti (version 1.6.0 for Mac). Results, on the one hand, evidence the rupture of work connections, implying the loss of day-to-day contact and in confirmation of relational otherness. On the other hand, a network reconstruction process was observed by widening familial connections, reconnecting with friends, and integrating with their communities.

Keywords : work; retirement; social network; family.
