This bibliometric research historicizes aspects of the Organizational and Occupational Psychology in Brazil. It describes and analyzes publications associated with the Recruitment and Selection, in the Arquivos Brasileiros de Psicotécnica (1949-1968). The results point out the development of Psychology in organizations, based on professionals' performance who applied Psychology methods and techniques mainly Psychometrics. They meant to understand the worker's skills and tendencies, and their adjustment to work conditions. This occurred in a Brazilian socioeconomic moment that required Psychology knowledge and practices either for the national "modernization", using methods and techniques applied to the selection which, in turn, were articulated with the zeitgeist  of  the profession regulation and the formation in Psychology, in  Brazil.
