Abstract

SOCHA, Alexandre. The mirroring function of maternal voice and it’s references to the psyche and the constitution of self. Winnicott e-prints [online]. 2008, vol.3, n.1e2, pp. 1-12. ISSN 1679-432X.

The present article is a reflection on the effects of the mother’s speech, taken primarily by its specular function, during the maturacional development of the human baby. Starting from Winnicott’s article “Mirror-role of Mother and Family in Child Development”, a proposal will be made in order to extend his considerations of mother’s face to also the mother’s speech and voice, as been made by Didier Anzieu in his concept of “voiced mirror”. In the dialogue between these two authors, it will be tried to identify convergences and divergences

Keywords : Mother’s speech; Specular function; Self; Psyche; Winnicott.
