Abstract

SANTOS, Eder Soares. In search of ethics of care in the light of Heidegger, Nishitani and Winnicott. Winnicott e-prints [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.1, pp. 37-49. ISSN 1679-432X.

This paper aims to demonstrate how Heidegger, the German philosopher, understands that we are being taken care of in the sense that we already are "beings -in-the world" by to-be-ahead-of-oneself-already-in-[the world] as being-with [beings encountered in the world] (Sich-vorweg-schon-sein-in-[der Welt] als Sein-bei [innerweltlich begegnendem Seiendem]). After that, the article examines the notion of ethics by the Japanese philosopher Nishitani based on the relationship of trust established between human beings to provide Heidegger's ontological definition of care with factual bases. Finally, the article investigates how Winnicott, the British psychoanalyst, establishes a kind of connection between Heidegger's notion of care and Nishitani's notion of ethics, showing how ethics of care can be established from the initial mother-child relationship.

Keywords : Heidegger; Winnicott; Nishitani; ethics; care.
