SILVA, Cláudia Yaísa Gonçalves da  and  MOTTA, Ivonise Fernandes da. Between verses and rhymes: a reflection on creativity in RAP. Winnicott e-prints [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.1, pp. 1-23. ISSN 1679-432X.

In this paper we reflect on the meanings expressed in rap lyrics and their connection with the personal growth process of rappers, highlighting the place of creativity and health in acquisitions in terms of emotional development. We start from the analysis of musical excerpts from São Paulo rap under the theoretical framework of the psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott. We understand that the rap reveals an authentic creation that gives value to life, despite the difficulties. We conclude that through music the rappers put life in motion, giving new meaning to the experiences and outlining new verses, rhythms and rhymes to their biographies.

Keywords : Winnicott; rap; maturation; creativity; culture.
