Abstract

JUCA, Vládia Jamile dos Santos; LIMA, Mônica  and  NUNES, Mônica de Oliveira. The (re) invention of technologies within the context of psychosocial care centers: reception and group activities. Mental [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.11, pp. x-x. ISSN 1679-4427.

This study aims to illustrate some of the considerations on the use of soft technologies, such as group activities and user reception, offered by 14 CAPS in the states of Bahia and Sergipe, focusing on the potential attributed to such technologies. The data was obtained in focal groups with team professionals and participant observation during activities for the implementation of specific ways to develop mental health care, supposedly oriented by principles of psychiatric reform. It is noted that these technologies have been recreated from the teams’ initiative of attempting to possibly find better ways to make CAPS work. Therefore, the barriers experienced are significant and illustrate the risk of repeating an institutionalizing culture that does not promote social inclusion.

Keywords : CAPS; Care technologies; Mental health; Workshops; Group activities; Social inclusion.
